Dr. Hans Reinhardt and Maximilian from Disney's 1979 sci-fi movie, "The Black Hole".

This was done in tribute to John Barry, who composed the amazing score from the film.

Drawn on 3.5"x2.5" bristol, with Micron pens and Prismacolor markers and white gel pen.

I too am a John Barry fan. Unfortunately the only movie he scored that was worse than "The Black Hole" was "Howard the Duck".

I don't think Black Hole is perfect by any means (you can totally see the wires), but it's kinda nostalgic fun for me. And the score is just amazing.

I had discussions with Robert McCall (the preproduction concept artist) for "The Black Hole" when the project was in development. Had the Disney writers not taken the story off on a completely diffent tangent, the movie would have looked much more like "2001: A Space Odyssey". I have also shared a panel discussion with Alan Dean Foster who wrote the novelization of the film. The Disney people wouldn't allow him to correct the many errors in physics that had crept into the script.

"The Black Hole" would have been a GREAT SF film if dull minds hadn't dumbed it down.

Wow, that's amazing to have met those guys. Thoughts on the upcoming remake?

I wasn't aware that one was being made.

Howerer, it would only be justice if Alan Dean Foster were to write the script.

As "The Day the Earth Stood Still" remake demonstrated, new is not necessarily better.
